GiantJSON Viewer+ is designed with privacy at its core. Your JSON files never leave your device, and we collect virtually no personal information. This policy explains exactly what data exists and how it's handled.
The Short Version
- Your files stay local — we never access, upload, or transmit your JSON data
- No personal data collection — we don't collect names, emails, or identifiers
- Anonymous analytics only — Crashlytics and Analytics help us fix bugs and improve the app, with no personal identifiers attached
- You control data sharing — analytics is on by default but can be turned off anytime in the app's global options
What the App Does Locally
GiantJSON Viewer+ operates entirely on your device:
- Opens and indexes JSON files stored on your phone
- Creates structural indexes in the app's cache directory
- Stores bookmarks, filter results, and preferences locally
- Downloads files via Remote API and stores them in the app's data folder
None of this data is transmitted anywhere. Files you open remain solely on your device.
AI-Assisted Regex Generator
The optional AI regex generator sends only the text description you type (up to 500 characters) to a secure Google Cloud Function. Important protections:
- The AI cannot access your JSON files
- It cannot access your device data
- Requests are processed on Google Cloud infrastructure
- Requests are not stored or used for any other purpose
In-App Feedback
The app includes an optional feedback form where you can report bugs, request features, or share general feedback. When you submit feedback, the following is sent to our servers via Firebase Firestore:
- Your message — the text you type (10-2000 characters)
- Feedback category — Bug Report, Feature Request, or General Feedback
- Non-identifying device info — App version, Android API level, device model/manufacturer, available/total RAM, and PRO subscription status
Before submitting, the app displays exactly what data will be sent in a transparency section at the bottom of the feedback form. No personal identifiers (name, email, device ID) are included.
In-App Purchases
PRO features are available via Google Play In-App Purchases, including free trial periods managed entirely by Google Play. All payment and trial processing is handled by Google. We do not collect, see, or store any payment or trial information.
Firebase Crashlytics
We use Firebase Crashlytics for automatic crash and error reporting. When the app crashes or encounters an error, Crashlytics collects:
- Crash stack traces and error logs
- Device state at the time of crash (memory, battery, orientation)
- Device model and OS version
No personal data is included. This data is used solely to identify and fix stability issues. You can disable this in the app's global options at any time.
Google Analytics (Firebase)
We use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the app is used, which features are popular, and where users encounter problems. This data is fully anonymous and includes:
- Feature usage events (which screens are visited, which tools are used)
- App performance metrics
- General device category (no unique identifiers)
No personal identifiers are collected. Analytics data is processed by Google under Google's Privacy Policy. You can disable this in the app's global options at any time.
Analytics Consent
Crashlytics and Analytics are enabled by default to help us maintain app stability and improve the experience. You can opt out at any time from the app's global options — no data will be collected once you turn it off. Your preference is stored locally on your device.
Google Play Services
In addition to the Firebase services described above, Google Play itself may collect:
- Basic installation and update statistics
- Device compatibility information
This is standard for all Android apps distributed via Google Play and is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
In-App Reviews
We use Google's official In-App Review API to request feedback. This is a standard Android feature. No personal data is collected through this mechanism.
External Links
The app may link to external websites (such as GitHub for bug reporting). These sites operate independently and have their own privacy policies.
Data We Do NOT Collect
To be absolutely clear, GiantJSON Viewer+ does not collect:
- Your name, email, or contact details
- Contents of your JSON files
- Unique device identifiers or advertising IDs
- Location data
- Browsing history
